School of Arts & Sciences Class of 2012

In preparation to begin your undergraduate education, we ask that you join us on campus twice this spring, once for a series of required placement tests and once for an academic planning & advising program to meet with advisors and select courses for the fall semester.

The Academic Planning & Advising program has been designed to introduce you to the philosophy of a liberal arts education, inform you about your degree requirements, and assist you in selecting first semester courses. During the program, you will be requesting your Fall 2008 classes, so attendance at one of the programs is mandatory. Course selection is not first-come-first-served.

Saturday, May 17, 2008 College Avenue Gym, CAC
Friday, June 13, 2008 Busch Campus Center,
Multipurpose Room
Friday, June 20, 2008 Busch Campus Center,
Multipurpose Room

You must attend the full day’s (9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.) program. Please make your reservation at http://apadays.sas.rutgers.edu.

On May 17, there will also be a separate program for parents/guardians that will highlight information about academics, student life, housing, financial aid, and other campus services.  Because of space constraints, we are no longer accepting reservations for parents/guardians for this date; if you already registered with guests, they are still welcome to attend APA with you.

Please note that there will be no separate program for parents/guardians during the APA days in June.

During the Academic Planning & Advising program, you will be meeting with academic advisors, faculty and peer advisors to discuss your major/minor options and degree requirements. During the program, you will attend special meetings for an overview of academic goals and requirements, an introduction to a department of your choice, and information about pre-professional or liberal arts options. All of the information that you gather will help you to make good course selections with the help of your advisors.

Please read the Academic Planning & Advising Information Booklet and Course List carefully. Bring any specific advising or course questions with you to your APA Day.
