Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How will I know which of my credits transfer?

A: Students transferring from a NJ Community College can use NJ Transfer to assess course transferability. We generally require a grade of “C” or better for a course to transfer.

Students transferring from a four year college or university can make the general assumption that classes completed with a grade of “C” or better in an academic department offered at Rutgers University will be accepted for transfer credit. These courses may or may not be utilized to fulfill major requirements, but will generally receive a minimum of elective academic credit. Please note that this is a general guideline only and should not be considered a guarantee of any sort.

Q: When can I meet with an advisor and register for Fall classes?

A: We know you’re anxious to get started with your Rutgers University career! We need some time to properly evaluate your transcripts and to prepare for your arrival. We will be holding advising and registration days in June, July, and August and we will be in touch with you in May with details.

Q: I can’t wait until the summer. Can you please meet with me sooner?

A: We are sorry, but due to the heavy volume of students we cannot meet individually with you. We will be glad to answer all your questions and get you started on the path to success when you attend our advising and registration days. Please be patient!

Q: Is there anything I can do now?

A: YES! You can open a Rutgers University NetID and Eden email account by visiting the following site: http://www.eden.rutgers.edu/index.php. All Rutgers students need both a NetID and an Eden account. You MUST have an Eden account despite any other email address you currently have and use.

You can also ensure that your immunizations are up to date. This website will give you all the information you need: http://health.rutgers.edu/Immunizations/faq.htm.

Note that you may not move into our residence halls if you have not submitted proof of meningococcal vaccination
