GPA Calculator

This site has been developed to help students calculate their Rutgers University grade point average. Section one will enable you to estimate your GPA for the current term. If you are a continuing student, use section two in order to estimate the impact of this term's projected grades on your overall GPA. Please note the following restrictions:

  1. "E-prefixed" courses do not contribute to the GPA, even when a letter grade is assigned.
  2. Courses taken at schools other than Rutgers are not included in your Rutgers grade point average.
  3. If you are considering re-taking a course in which you previously received a grade of D or F, it is important to discuss it first with your academic dean or program advisor. They will work with you to determine the best plan for meeting your academic objectives.
  4. Be aware that the number of credits in your grade point average may not be the same as the number of credits towards your degree. Be sure to speak with an advisor if you have any questions regarding degree credits.

Step 1: Estimate current semester's grade point average in worksheet below. Be realistic in your evaluation of the final grade. Make sure you are aware of all grading criteria for the course (quizzes, homework, attendance). Do not enter grades for any courses which are "E" prefixed. Valid grades include: A, B+, B, C+, C, D, or F. Any other grades entered will result in an inaccurate calculation.

Step 2: Check your official, paper transcript (which can be ordered for free through transcripts.rutgers.edu), and look for "Cumulative Credits/Points in GPA." Note that "E" prefixed grades are not included. Grades earned from work outside of Rutgers do not contribute to the Rutgers GPA.
