Majors

With more than 70 different undergraduate majors, you can study everything from traditional academic fields to new, cutting-edge disciplines. You can even design your own individualized major.

Distribution Requirements

In addition to your major and minor requirements, you'll choose from a set of distribution requirements carefully designed to give you the intellectual range and flexibility you'll need as a college graduate in the 21st century.

Academic Opportunities

You'll have access to intense educational experiences, like laboratory and archive research, field work, advanced seminars, graduate classes, and "capstone courses" for your major that bring together everything you have learned.

You'll also have numerous other educational opportunities, including Study Abroad, pre-professional advising in law and medicine, five-year master's degree programs, scholarships and research fellowships, hundreds of co-curricular clubs and organizations, internships, and more.

Women-Only Residential Options

Women students may choose to be a part of Douglass Residential College, an institution focused on women's leadership. Open to commuters, residential students, and nontraditional women students, this learning experience will feature educational pathways that integrate academic courses, research, living learning initiatives, cocurricular programs, student organizations, and student activities. Other focused learning communities are also in the works, so you can get the advantage of a small college within a big research university.

Honors

For a challenge, you can apply to our four-year Honors Program. Even if you don't start out in the program, most majors offer honors tracks, an honors thesis, and other opportunities to graduate with distinction.

Part-time and Nontraditional Students

Programs for part-time and nontraditional students, including many classes offered at night.

Academic Support

You can find programs to help you succeed, including EOF, summer study opportunities, Gateway courses to ease you in to certain subjects, and some of the best learning centers in the country.

Student Life

We offer a huge variety of living options, activities, events, and recreational facilities, so your daily life is more than just academics. Even students who live off campus can take full advantage of the range of activities, events, and facilities at Rutgers.
