Gamma Xi Chapter

The Transfer Center at the School of Arts and Sciences is proud to present the Gamma Xi Chapter of the Tau Sigma National Honor Society at Rutgers University. Tau Sigma is the national honors society for students that have transferred from one institution (or institutions) to another, and have shown high academic achievement during their first semester.

tausigmaThe purpose of the organization as stated in the constitution is:

To recognize the academic achievement of students transferring to Rutgers University from another academic institution and to encourage and promote students' involvement at Rutgers University.

The insignia of Tau Sigma is a red crest with the Greek letters Tau and Sigma superimposed and a bundle of wheat.  The letters Tau and Sigma are emblematic of transition and scholarship.

 Membership criteria:

  • Enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 credits)
  • Transfer with one full year’s worth of academic credit
  • Complete first semester after transferring with a 3.5/4.0 GPA

Transfer students who meet the above criteria after their first semester at Rutgers will be invited to join Tau Sigma and attend an induction ceremony.
SAS has the 1st chapter of Tau Sigma in the state of NJ and the only chapter in Rutgers-New Brunswick!
