TR:T01:EC? Transfer Course Codes

My credits are evaluated as TR:T01:EC. What does this mean?

It means that you have been awarded elective credits for the course. These credits count towards the 120 you need for graduation, but are not directly equivalent to a course we teach at Rutgers. They do not fulfill requirements for your major, minor or the Core.

So, they’re useless?

No! They are certainly not useless.  The combination of your major, minor, and Core requirements will never add up to 120 credits. You need additional credits to reach 120. This is the role of elective credits.

I think my major (or minor) department might allow these credits to count. What should I do?

NJ Community College courses have been pre-evaluated on njtransfer.org. If the course you’d like to have evaluated was taken outside of a NJ Community College, you can bring your syllabus from the specific course and a Departmental Transfer Evaluation Form to the department advisor and ask for a review. If the advisor determines the course is equivalent to an RU course they will fill out the form and you should return it to any SAS Advising Center.

I think my TR:T01:EC course should count for a Core requirement. What should I do?

The Core requirements are very specific. If you believe your course is directly equivalent to a course that is on the Core, you should bring your syllabus from the specific course and a Departmental Transfer Evaluation Form to the related department advisor and ask for a review. If the advisor determines the course is equivalent to a Rutgers course they will fill out the form and you should return it to any SAS Advising Center.

It is important to remember that the 21st Century Challenges Learning Goal and the WCr Learning Goal MUST be completed at Rutgers-New Brunswick. No transfer courses, with or without equivalency, will be used to complete these goals.

My credits are evaluated with a Core equivalency, but I think they might also work for my major or minor. What should I do?

You can bring your syllabus from the specific course and a Departmental Transfer Evaluation Form to the department advisor and ask for a review. If the advisor determines the course is equivalent to a Rutgers course they will fill out the form and you should return it to any SAS Advising Center.
